This is by far one of my favorite DIY projects I have done in awhile! It is not only fun for your kids but looks so cute on your fridge. I can’t wait for you all to try it and love it as much as we do!
Lately my son has been obsessed with doing puzzles. We got him this cute Toy Story 4 Puzzle Book and we definitely got our money’s worth from it! So while I was “bored in the house and I was in the house bored,” I thought I can totally make him his own puzzles with some of his favorite pictures!
What you will need:
- laminator (not necessary but will make the puzzle last longer)
- magnet tape (linked is the BEST magnet tape ever)
Above is a video of all the steps on how I made the magnetic picture puzzle, but I’ll write them out below just in case your like me and would rather just read the steps sometimes!
Steps for DIY Magnetic Picture Puzzle
Step 1: Open powerpoint and change the page set up to 8.5 X 11.
Step 2: Insert the picture you want to make into a puzzle. Hint: If you are making it for a kid pick one that isn’t super busy, so it won’t be too difficult for them to figure out.
Step 3: Resize the photo to somewhere around 8.4 X 5.5 (it doesn’t have to be exact) and align the picture to the center and middle!
Step 4: Add a new slide page.
Step 5: Google an easy puzzle outline image. It’s okay if it has watermarks. It will be on the back of your picture. Copy and paste that image onto the new slide that you added. Hint: pick one with less pieces for less cutting later on.
Step 6: Resize the puzzle outline to the exact same size as the picture.
Step 7: Print the picture and puzzle outline front to back on cardstock.
Step 8: Cut the excess paper around the picture. Do NOT cut the actual puzzle pieces yet.
Step 9: Laminate the picture.
Step 10: Cut out the puzzle using the puzzle outline on the back of the picture.
Step 11: Add magnet tape on the back of each puzzle piece.
